Bravo, Bravissimo!

Sometimes people stand up to applaud out of custom or because someone else rose from his or her seat and initiates a chain reaction. Not so after Sir András Schiff played his last note today in Brucknerhaus Linz. For me it was a mind-blowing experience to hear the music of Beethoven and Schumann played with this much clarity, beauty in sound and delicacy in touch. The audience certainly felt the same and there wasn’t much to be done but to stand up and applaud the maestro for his performance.
