Thilo has been a prolific touring and recording pianist, key instrument player and sound designer for over a decade now. Growing up in a classical music environment in Bremen (Germany), he went abroad in his teens to live and study in Salvador da Bahia (Brazil), which inspired new approaches to music. He then went on to study jazz piano at Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria) and Högskolan för music och Scen Göteborg (Sweden) under the guidance of Olaf Polziehn, Anders Jormin and Tord Gustavsen. He has released six albums as a (co-)leader, appears on multiple others and has performed on stages across 19 different countries.

Moving to Berlin in 2021, he encountered a broader art scene and has been reshaping his output, widening his scope to a wider understanding of sound art and seeking interdisciplinary collaborations across the contemporary arts. A long-standing collaboration with dancer/choreographer Clarissa Rêgo and a more recent one with photographer/visual artist Lara Ovídio have not only inspired new perspectives on sound and composition, but have also had an impact on his musical work, in which collaborations with Uli Rennert, LILAMORS, Sound Pollution Eclectic and Jan Lovšin have introduced ever more crossings of traditional music and contemporary sound art to his discography. He returned to nature-blessed Graz in 2023, where he creates and performs across various instruments, countries and styles.
